Also, continuing the strange items found in the shed theme from the first shed post, I had to move this off a shelf earlier as a prelude to demolishing the shelf. Anyone know what it is? And before you say "it's a 6-volt sealed rechargeable lead-acid battery", I can see that; what I want to know is what it's for, i.e. what did it come out of? Any ideas?

Strange again. I'm getting a bit involved these days with UPS systems at work at present and I'd suggest this is one such battery.
Think bugler alarm or sammink like that...
I might be wrong but thats my guess.
Yeah, you might be right, I suppose. We do have a burglar alarm so it might be from the main unit. The little satellite units in each room take MN21s, of course, but - hey! - I don't need to tell you that.
